Got a new Job offer ?? Think again ..

Recently a lot of companies have been giving out fake promise of employement for potential candidates,
These fake promises range from

  1. Companies that tell you that you will have another interview very soon,
  2. Those that promise to give you a call whether you are accepted or NOT
  3. Those that promise you to sign the contract soon
  4. Other companies actually abuse you,
    1. They ask you to finish a specific task ( research or whatsoever ) as a condition and requirement for employement with them
    2. Some use you to present their company, so that they can attract large corporations ( Ex. Sutherland Call Center in Alexandria ). They always promise people to work for them and ask all of those fluent in different languages to attend the meeting representing the company, to the prospective clients, and once they get the deal they hire some other people
  5. Companies that promise you to sign the employment contract very soon that actually require you to quit your current job. or even give a notice of leaving your current company. And after you leave, they tell you they're sorry, but there were updates and they couldn't tell you earlier

These stuff happens most of the time, so what should we actually do anything about it, if stuff like that was on the way

If you are Fresh Graduate, with no Job Yet, Don't think that once a company told you that they will get you hired they will actually do, unless you finish the interviews, and they ask you to present all of your official documents and stuff. If they just said they will call you soon, Then, never stop searching for other vacancies elsewhere. Keep doing Interviews here and there, ( and of course don't show that you actually applied in many other companies in the interviews you make ;)  ..

If you have experience, and currently holding a position, DON'T Leave your current position, UNLESS  you actually sign a contract with the new company and get to know all the benefits you will have in the new position you will be having, and compare it to your current benefits, and you have to know also that the starting date are specific and clear, so that you can move from your current job, to the new one

( Remember: you don't wanna go back to your old employers asking them to rehire you )

So, Everyone just take care..

When some company ask you to do a task or something
  • think about it first, whether it's a reasonable task, ( a reasonable requirement for the job ), or this is something they are just doing to abuse the candidates
  • try to ask them about the connection of that job to the position you are actually gonna have

When a company tells you that you will have an interview soon
  • Ask for the time frame to wait for such a call for the interview, and ask for the person's Business Card for the follow up stuff
When a company tells you that you will sign a contract soon ( and you have experience, and you are currently holding a job )
  • Don't leave your current job, untill you actually sign the contract with the new company ...

Best of Luck for All

  2. There are also companies use the applicant to get new ideas about marketing strategies, help them to do business plan based on facts, survey consumers needs and ability, and many other things may help them do their duets and meet customer expectations.
The interviewer also could be from marketing department and NOT HR.

  3. Ahmad, This is what I actually meant when I said they will require you to do some kinda task

whether it's a survey, market research, or whatsoever, even when they require you to do such things, you tell them you got the results, and can give them an overall review about it, and when they ask you for details, try to link it to your Job Responsibilities and Duties. And that you will share the results upon you getting recruited with them.

I did the same thing with Sutherland when they wanted me to work 6 month with them for free, they wanted to know the number of people who can be potentials to work as foreign language call center agents, I Didn't do the research, I told them, to make statistics like that, I would need to be an employee of sutherland .. and of course they didn't contact me back ..

  4. Ahmed This is very helpful and very true also...all this really happens...companies are abusing us as much as they can...

companies can also ask you about their competitors, if they once have worked their, or ask you to evaluate marketing campaigns (theirs & their competitor's)...

    An important point:
But what about who have experience, but are currently unemployed...their situation is worse!

I cannot say enough about the promises I heard, expect a call from me in 2 days to send you the job offer, our second interview is next sunday, will call you to confirm..bla bla bla...

  5. I've also been interviewed by a company that asked me for a pilot task to do to prove my skills & experience, promising lots of money. I found that the task was founding a whole project so I didn't even answer them back, so they called for a second interview, during which they conducted lots of telephone calls in my hearing, showing how much money they're offering candidates who finished the pilot task successfully. They're actually con companies, so take care

  8. If we said the names of the companies here, we can be sued, I only said names of the companies that I can confront otherwise, I actually can't do that.

I already asked members of City of Jobs Group to send their stories and share them with us, but I got no response at all ..
