Job Fairs in Egypt

Here are some facts about Job Fairs in Egypt in General, and Alexandria specifically

• Don’t have high hopes or expectations on Job Fairs made BECAUSE
  
• Now Recruitment companies like : Target, and Job Nile, are making their yearly Job Fair just to generate money
• Job Fairs generate around 100 thousand EGP as a minimum.. So, Recruitment companies will be more than willing to do it once a year at least (Literally, Job Fairs held in Egypt are SABBOBA )
• They always go for the quantity not the quality meaning, they will get the maximum no. of companies to join the job fair, without considering whether these companies already have vacancies or not. And without considering the reputation of these companies, as long as they pay well 

But if things are just like that, an Important question would arise now ..
Why would companies join job fairs, and pay undue money required to join the job fair IF they don’t have vacancies ??
Companies work on several factors,

1. Corporate Image: they want to be known to job seekers, that you recognize the co. brands, products, and corporate image
2. To have an inventory of CVs SO that in case they have a vacancy, they can have a database of candidates among which they can select their candidates

Another fact about companies that join Job Fairs ( Employers ):
MOST of the companies don’t filter or scan the CVs .. Meaning, they just leave them in a wardrobe till they have vacancies .. and this time can last for more than one year ..

Do you know what “Target” promised Employers to do in the Job Fair Preparation ?
-100,000 Flyers will be distributed in Alexandria, Damanhour, North
Coast and neighboring provinces at Clubs, Universities, Cafés, Culture
centers, Malls, Technical training centers, language centers, and major
hot spots.
-1000 Poster's displayed at Clubs, Cafes, Universities,
-SMS Campaign.
-Outdoor billboard locations.
-Magazine advertisements.
-Road signs all over Alex. for marketing the event
-Al Ahram Newspaper.
-Waseet Advertisements.
-Local magazines. (Origami, Cocktel, waseet Alex., Sporting club
Magazine ,Employer, etc…..)
-Outdoor Advertising Locations. :
(Smouha, Down Town, Alexandria university, Gleem, Miamy, Raml
Station, The Library of Alexandria, Sporting club , Smouha Club, Carrefour & San Stefano Mall).

Now, You tell me .. Which of these promises were fulfilled ??


Then , What should you be doing when going to a job fair ??

1. You have to make sure that the company holding the Job Fair is CREDIBLE 
2. You should make sure that the company that you are applying for already has vacancies, and not open vacancies 
3. You shouldn’t have high expectations on being called after like 2 or 3 months after the end of the job fair. Because companies usually take time to filter and sort, and scan the CVs that they received from the Job Fair .. and I mentioned earlier, that could take more than one year .. that the CVs become obsolete
